Updated 7:00 p.m. ETNEW YORK - Occupy Wall Street protesters clogged streets and tied up traffic around the U.S. on Thursday to mark two months since the movement s birth and signal they aren t ready to quit, despite the breakup of many of their encampments by police. Still, Deputy New York Police Commissioner Paul Browne tells WCBS Radio about 300 Occupy Wall Street demonstrators have been arrested today. That number includes a symbolic 99 at the Brooklyn Bridge. Browne says 7 NYPD officers have been injured today, none seriously.Chanting All day, all week, shut down Wall Street, more than 1,000 demonstrators gathered near the New York Stock Exchange and sat down in several intersections. Helmeted police broke up some of the gatherings, and operations at the stock market were not disrupted. Water has been rising for over a week on the Withlacoochee River, and now it has finally crested.Its been nearly 70 years since the water was this high and according to the National Weather Service, the water is done risi salomon speedcross ng but people who live in the area will have to wait days before it even begins to recede.Many streets that were along the Withlacoochee River are now part of it, along with hundreds of homes.Basil Hill and his niece and nephew are staying in a home that has several feet of water on the inside.Glen Spicer lives just down the street. There s no way were ever going to be able to recover from it.
